New Zealand's twelve most unwanted pests and diseases are the brown marmorated stink bug, Queensland fruit fly, spotted lanternfly, spongy moth, red imported fire ant, giant African snail, citrus longhorn beetle, foot and mouth disease, lumpy skin disease, African swine fever, high pathogenicity avian influenza and pine pitch canker. If you ever see something unusual, do not touch it, photograph it, and call Biosecurity New Zealand on 0800 80 99 66.

Biosecurity awareness: the threats we keep out. New Zealand's economy, environment and way of life depend on keeping harmful pests and diseases out. The invertebrate threats are the brown marmorated stink bug, Queensland fruit fly, spotted lanternfly, spongy moth, red imported fire ant, giant African snail and citrus longhorn beetle. The animal diseases are foot and mouth disease, lumpy skin disease, African swine fever and high pathogenicity avian influenza. The plant disease is pine pitch canker.
